EDUCATION SUPERVISOR
DEFINITION
Supervises and performs professional level work in an
education program at a state institution; performs related work as required.

WORK EXAMPLES
Supervises and evaluates the work of Educators,
Education Assistants, and Education Aides; effectively recommends personnel
actions related to selection, disciplinary procedures, performance, leaves of
absence, grievances, work schedules and assignments, and administers personnel
and related policies and procedures.
Instructs students to advance an understanding of
academic or vocational subjects or to realize development abilities.
Assists in the planning, coordination, and direction
of an education program to relieve the Administrator by conducting staff
meetings, attending administrative meetings, relaying and interpreting
policies, procedures and instructions, consulting with educational specialists,
exploring funding sources, reviewing curriculum and new instructional material,
scheduling classes, and arranging for appropriate staffing.
Coordinates or directs education projects such as
work-study or vocational guidance programs, segments of a larger
academic/vocational program, or a small education program to achieve goals for
students by defining program objectives, developing resource materials, and by
coordinating various aspects of the program such as transportation and
vocational program sponsors in the community.
Identifies barriers to individual student's educational goals and determines appropriate educational placement and programming.
Prepares specialized or individualized learning devices or projects by devising or adapting curriculum, lesson plans, behavioral objectives, and learning center activities.
Participates on treatment teams to provide information and recommendations concerning education level, abilities, and needs; interprets educational data and testing information, assesses and presents educational plans or objectives and evaluates available community resources considered in placement planning.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SPECIAL
REQUIREMENTS
Experience equal to two years of professional teaching
in addition to meeting teaching certification requirements established by the
Iowa Department of Education including completion of an early childhood,
elementary or secondary program of teacher preparation;
OR
an
equivalent combination of education and experience substituting thirty semester
(or equivalent) hours of graduate level coursework in an educational field for
one year of the required work experience to a maximum substitution of two
years.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Designated positions in the job class require
applicants to obtain the required Chauffeurs License and endorsements within a
period of time as determined by the appointing authority at the time of hire.
