Classes
in this series include tasks to perform, or lead and participate in, the
construction, repair and maintenance of buildings and special purpose items
made of wood and wood substitutes, such as cabinets, shelves, and furniture at
a skilled journey level. In addition,
these classes would be concerned with the application or repair of composition
covering such as asphalt, rubber, composition or synthetic tiles or covering
materials.
Positions
which perform semi skilled carpentry tasks and related duties should be classified
in the Trades Helper, Maintenance Worker, Maintenance Leader or similar class.
Employees
perform skilled carpentry work in the maintenance of buildings, erection of new
construction or additions to existing structures requiring the ability to read
blueprints and specifications and transfer these into a finished product.
Employees
also construct or repair such things as tables, benches, counters, cabinets and
wooden items. As the project requires,
employees will oversee helpers performing semi skilled and unskilled carpentry
work.
Employees
at this level are leadworkers for Carpenters 1, Trades Helpers, and
others. Incumbents also perform skilled
carpentry and cabinet work.
