SERIES CONCEPT

Classes in this series perform, lead or supervise custodial maintenance of buildings and entrance walkways. Work involves lifting and moving equipment, furniture and accessories to facilitate cleaning or relocating furnishings. Some positions may direct clothing and linen maintenance services.

EXCLUSIONS

Positions with primary work tasks in providing laundry and linen services should be classified in the Laundry Worker or Linen Worker classes.

CLASS DISTINCTIONS

Custodial Worker

Positions in this class perform a variety of routine and recurring cleaning and sanitation tasks involving the use of hand or powered custodial equipment.

Custodial Leader

Positions in this class provide guidance and on-the-job training for custodial workers, and perform the same work tasks as described for that class.

Custodial Assistant

Positions in this class assist a supervisor in overseeing building custodial and sanitation services, and the requisition and stocking of household supplies. Some positions may direct clothing and linen maintenance services.

Custodial Supervisor

Positions in this class plan and supervise building custodial maintenance and sanitation work in a state facility encompassing several buildings.
