SECTION 4.25 ADVERTISING
The
Iowa Department of Administrative Services – Human Resources Enterprise
(DAS-HRE) administers the "Coordinated Advertising Program" for the
State in conjunction with the Des Moines Register.
This
program allows the state department to save money by placing advertisements at
a group rate.
If
your department has a specific person who handles all advertising, please
contact him/her with the information about the need to advertise and
recruit. That person will then work with
their department's personnel officer or the Classified Advertising Coordinator
at DAS-HRE.
Advertising
for applicants may be accomplished in a variety of ways:

Local and state
wide newspapers/shoppers
·
Out of state
newspapers
·
Technical, Trade
and/or Professional Journals
·
College and
university placement offices
·
Alumni
newsletters
·
Internet -
variety of web sites - wide coverage that are position specific (generally
lower cost than newspaper ads)
·
Flyers to
community service organizations/churches
·
Minority media
sources
·
Persons with
Disabilities media sources
Discuss
advertisement content with the Personnel Officer or the Advertisement
Coordinator prior to the submission of the ad for publication. Approval may be obtained from your
personnel officer or the DAS-HRE Classified Advertisement Coordinator in
advance (this includes Merit and Non-Merit/exempt covered job classifications).
Once
the ad has been approved, please forward a copy of the ad to the Advertisement
Coordinator at DAS-HRE - Fax (515) 281-7970.
Any changes to ad content after final approval must be cleared through
the Personnel Officer or the Advertisement Coordinator.

Upon approval,
the department representative may call the Des Moines Register or other
publication to place the ad

representative for the State of Iowa at the Des Moines Register can be

Provide the
following billing information:
- Department
- Fund
- Organization codes (available from your
department)
·
The Des Moines
Register will send the bill to DAS-HRE.
·
DAS-HRE will bill
the department for the cost of the ad.
