SECTION 4.30  COORDINATED ADVERTISING

Departments should use the following guidelines when placing a recruitment advertisement (see last paragraphs for merit system exempt positions).

Special Note:  For merit-covered job classes, please make sure your job vacancy has been posted on the DAS-HRE website prior to placing the ad.

Ad Text Must Include:

·         Official job title (may also include working title)

·         Hiring department

·         Location (city and county)

·         Hours of work (include weekends, evening/night and rotating shifts)

·         Travel (if extensive or overnight travel is necessary, please indicate this in the ad)

·         Name and phone number of contact person in agency

·         The statement at the end of the ad "EEO/AA Employer"

Qualifications:

·         Include the qualifications that are position specific

·         Include special license, certification, and/or selective criteria or any "desirable" statements as long as they are job related and will help you in your applicant screening criteria.

Annual Salary:

·         Indicate only the minimum salary unless you are offering more than the minimum.  If salary is negotiable, then list both the minimum and maximum or indicate the minimum amount up to the amount you are willing to offer.

Date By Which Applications Must Be Submitted:

·         The closing date for receipt of applications must match the closing date of the job posting.

If the advertisement is for a non-merit/exempt job vacancy, resumes/applications should be mailed directly to the employing department.

Departments may also request in the advertisement that a cover letter and resume be sent to a designated person in the hiring department.
