Competencies

Competencies are the knowledges, abilities, skills and behaviors needed by state employees to produce the results expected by the organization. They relate to all four stages of human resource management: human resource planning, hiring and bringing new employees on board, developing current staff, and managing turnover. They can be found in staffing plans, individual job descriptions, requirements for vacant jobs, development plans, performance appraisal, and succession planning, to name a few.

This section recognizes the importance of that relationship and focuses specifically on competencies and how to use them.

DAS-HRE staff are available to assist agencies in developing and using competencies in their human resource management activities.
